Cornish Mizzle Large Mug. Hand formed in my Cornish Studio, Sparrows Nest.
Inspired by those days of Mizzle in a Cornish coastal landscape. You pull back the curtains and you are faced with a day of Mizzle (weather thats a fusion of drizzle and mist). There is only one way to cheer you up and thats a warm breakfast with your favourite large Cornish Mizzle mug filled with warming coffee to get you going. You sit at your kitchen table, hands wrapped around your mug, fire crackling beside you, knowing that actually you dont need to go out today... but you dog at your feet tells you a different story!
Each mug is hand formed with slabs in a beautiful speckled stoneware clay. The glazes are the result of much experimentation to create dramatic landscape scenes.
As they are handmade no mug is the same, each one is unique in its own way, so you may or may not receive a mug from this particular photo. As they are hand formed with roll pinned and hands they will not be perfect, but perfectly imperfect.
I roll the clay and form the mug in slabs. I hand form the mug and allow to dry for a week before it receives its first firing (bisque firing), I then start the glazing and then refire slowly to 1220 Celsius.
Food safe glaze, can be used in a microwave, although can be used in a dishwasher I advise that due to this mug being handmade and special that a gentle handwash would be preferable.
