The idea is to create something new from old, the finished piece isn't meant to be perfect. Instead, retain marks, stains and scratches, part of the original character of the ceramic. All Sterling Silver is either recycled or repurposed.
Jewellery boxes are made from FSC®-certified cardboard and water-based glue. Jewellery box inserts are made from tall oil, a by-product of wood pulp industry. All paper, card, glue, inks and delivery boxes used are made from recycled materials.
The idea is to create something new from old, found by chance, full of history and character. To present and deliver unique Eco Friendly gifts in Sustainable Packaging.
I love collecting ceramic discarded, lost, forgotten, damaged or just not wanted any more. Favourite places are rivers and beaches, but also find great things at recycling centres and charity shops. I’m lucky to live near the River Tees, Co Durham and often walk the banks picking up broken glass, pottery anything that can be cleaned and re-worked and crafted into something new. Bits and bobs found by chance waiting to find new homes.

Additional terms
Hand crafted Jewellery and framed artworks using pre loved and discarded ceramics. Ceramic material will show signs of wear and damage. Entire process is a creative experience from discovery to final picture, nothing planned or preconceived. All materials personally collected from river banks, charity shops, roadside, woods, recycle centres, beaches, wherever dropped, dumped or donated ceramics are found, cleaned and shaped into new stories. Each titled piece comes with bio of where the ceramic came from, known history, original information and when the artwork was created. Some ceramics collected are used as found, while others are cut randomly which will shape the final picture. Every piece is individual, nothing replicated, however, due to repetitive patterns in ceramics there will be some similarity but only through the ceramic material not in the final piece.
Please note that if your order is being posted outside mainland UK, you (or the recipient) may have to pay customs or VAT charges and a handling fee. The seller is not responsible for any charges or fees that may incur.

Ceramic Shard discovered
Thorsgill Beck
Barnard Castle May 2021
Handcrafted into
Earrings April 2025
In May 2021 while out walking Thorsgill Beck, The River Tees, Barnard Castle, Co Durham I came across a small concentration of broken bits of pottery. On this sunny day I found quite a few shards in one spot. The pieces were dirty and looked lost in the water for a long time. After soaking some were still stained, others cleaned well and all came back to life.
These earrings are made from a small piece of plate/saucer edge/rim found in the beck. I gently clipped to form two shards. I decided to sand the pieces into arch shapes to mimic the pattern on the edges, the front glaze is intact and shows slight crackling and marks. Backs and sides smoothed and sealed with Eco Friendly matt sealant.
The idea is to re-use the ceramic found but keep its original character. The finished item is not meant to be perfect, exact or highly polished. Each piece will have marks or scratches, these are signs of use, its journey and age.
Sterling silver 925 hooks.
Each earring measures approximately 18 mm x 12 mm x 3 mm.
Delivered in gift box made from FSC®-certified cardboard and water-based glue. Presented on Jewellery box insert made from tall oil, a by-product of paper production. Sustainable gifts, complete with short bio.
