Before holly was hung in houses to accompany Christmas trees, it was considered to be a sacred plant by the Druids. While other plants wilted in winter weather, holly remained green and strong, its berries a brightly coloured red in the harshest of conditions.

This unique wooden round Christmas Tree ornament with a Holly insert, has been upcycled from reclaimed Pine and Sapele (also known as African Mahogany) wood. This beautiful Christmas bauble will make a lovely addition to your Christmas tree. This ornament will make a perfect gift for numerous occasions such as a best friend gift, a gift for aunt or a Christmas present.
The ornament is approximately 8 cm in diameter and approximately 1 cm in depth.

A piece of recycled wood was cleaned and sanded to enable me to upcycle it. The design was applied to the wood and cut using a Scroll Saw. The Intarsia woodworking technique was applied where different species of wood were cut and shaped into three dimensional pieces and then glued together to form a design. The decoration was finished with Danish Oil with is food and toy safe. To complete the decoration a loop and ribbon were added to allow for hanging.
I am a firm believer in upcycling using reclaimed wood whenever possible. I often recycle the packaging I send out my items in.
