This distinctive set of 4 coasters has been upcycled from reclaimed wood and will brighten up any table. Each coaster has a reiki or tree of life symbol pyrographed on it. They would make a perfect gift for a number of occasions such as a housewarming, Christmas or birthday present.

Each coaster is approximately 10 cm x 10 cm with an approximate depth of 1.5 cm.

All items to the UK mainland are shipped by Royal Mail.

I am a firm believer in recycling. My items are made from reclaimed wood wherever possible and I often recycle the packaging materials that the items are dispatched in.

To make these coasters I firstly glued several pieces of wood together and when dry cut them to suitable sizes. I then sanded them by hand to produce a smooth finish. Each coaster was slightly chamfered. A template was applied to the wood and transferred using carbon paper. The image was then completed by using pyrography. The symbols and the pyrography were all completed in the correct reiki order. The coasters were coated in natural Shellac and finished with coats of lacquer, which is heat and water resistant. Each coaster has 4 small plastic buffer pads, on the back to prevent them from scratching surfaces.

The colour may differ slightly to the photographs due to the lighting at the time the photographs were taken.

Several of my family members practise Reiki. I have given these coasters as gifts. I hope you enjoy these as much as my family have.

Reiki is a Japanese technique for reducing stress and relaxation, that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive.

The three symbols and their meaning that I have used are:

1. The Reiki Power symbol - Choku Rei
The power symbol can be used to increase the power of Reiki and can be used for protection.

2. The Mental/Emotional symbol – Sei He Ki
The symbol brings together the "brain and the body". It helps people to bring to the surface and release the mental or emotional causes of their problems.

3. The Reiki Distance Healing symbol – Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen
The symbol can be used to send energies over a distance.
