This idea for came to me whilst I was sketching out some ideas for square motifs. After tweaking it a bit, the finished design was formed.

PDF shuttle tatting pattern for my square 'Janessa' floral butterfly motif.

This is NOT the finished item.

Difficulty level: Intermediate

Instructions are for size 20 crochet / tatting thread. Once finished the size is approximately 1 3/4 inches. This pattern only needs 1 tatting shuttle to make the finished piece. Once you've tatted this motif, you could then use it as a repeat pattern for a square doily or perhaps tat a few in a row for a bookmark. The possibilities are endless.

Techniques used: rings, chains, joining picots, decorative picots, Continuous Thread Method

The pdf file features detailed written instructions in English and both left and right handed diagrams complete with numbers of double stitches required (as shown in picture 5 of this listing).
