We live in a lovely village in the Northamptonshire countryside with a fabulous garden backing onto fields. We are lucky to be visited by lots of beautiful birds especially a couple of fat little robins that shout at us every time we dig over our compost heap and expose some juicy worms that they swiftly devour. A robin is a very iconic British bird and growing up in South Africa I only ever saw them on Christmas Cards. I have always loved them so thought I would honour that with a drawing.
My husband and father-in-law are big bird lovers so asked me if I would do a British bird Series of drawings and so this is one of 4. Also in the series are a Blue Tit, a Goldfinch and a Green Woodpecker.
