This stylish komebukuro, or rice bag, has been handmade using Japanese fabric to create a patchwork pattern. Both fabrics have been imported from Japan and are indigo Seigaiha, or waves, and kasuri, with crosshatches.
The inside of the bag is a dark red fabric.
The rice bag, or komebukuro, is a drawstring bag that was traditionally made of scrap fabric to carry rice or other offerings to Japanese temples or shrines.
It measures approximately 12cm (4 1/2 inches) in height, width and depth. The Japanese fabric has been used to create the tabs to hold gold ribbon cord. The traditional tabs at the end of the cord have been crafted from Japanese fabric, one of each fabric.
This would make a lovely gift bag for someone special, is reusable and holds a lot given its size, as can be seen in the photos.
Other fabrics available. Have a look at my other listings.
Please note that the accessories are for photographic purposes only.
Due to screen or monitor differences colours may vary slightly.
