Welcome to Rudy & the Rowan Tree - home to my experiments in wood, pattern and colour.
Handcrafted and made (very) slow in Scotland.
In my quest to keep my creations low-waste and use every piece of offcut wood I have in my outhouse, one day I was rooting around my wood stash and I found a little piece which for some reason just said 'bear' to me. I've been fascinated with these incredible animals for some time, and I find it really interesting that humans have long reinterpreted such a powerful,dangerous animal as a cuddly creature. So this is my cute and friendly version!

Full description
This gorgeous wooden bear has been cut from 12mm plywood, painted navy and decorated with turquoise and pink 'fur'. It has painted eyelets for ears and a tail to help it stand up. It is handmade from reclaimed materials giving it a 'naive' look. It measures approx 9.5cm x 6.5cm, and is inspired by my fascination with bears!
