These feisty wild cats have long been associated with the wilderness of the Highlands of Scotland, yet many do not realise that they are now critically endangered.
Fiercely wild and protective of themselves and their families these powerful predators may not be as big as their wild cousins like the Tiger and Lion but I believe they are just as wild and brave.
Created as the 15th piece of my Wild Britain Collection The Highland Tiger was created using Polychromos pencils onto Canson 160gsm White Cartridge Paper. The original has been professionally scanned ready for print to order Sinterix Prints (equivalent to Giclee prints) and are also available as greetings cards.
I donate 10% of all sales to the protection of the Scottish Wildcat by donating to Saving Wildcats. They have a captive breed to release programme up in the Highlands.
My maternal family's name is McIntosh, their clan animal is the Scottish Wildcat. I love the Highlands of Scotland having spent my summer holidays with my grandparents all my childhood and whilst never having seen a Scottish Wildcat in the wild, I could almost feel their presence up in the mountains and woodlands. I adore all felines yet these feisty cats have a very special place in my heart. I'm passionate about helping them and want to raise as much funding as I can to support the vital work of Saving Wildcats.
