I like the irony of a moth of wool, a creature made from the very thing it munches on (to our annoyance!)

The speckles lend that sense of camouflage and it is fun to play with how they can enhance this pattern.

Full description

This digital pattern is to make a woolly moth.

Your moth can be used in so many ways, to ward off the living type from nibbling woolly items, to aid sleep when tucked under the pillow, unconventional tree decorations, framed as wall art, add a pin to make a brooch… or any other way you can think of using it.

The pattern is 10 A4 pages which includes pattern shapes to cut out, detailed instructions on how to construct the moth, along with close up colour photographs. There are numerous tips and suggestions as to how you can make the moth your own.

The pattern will be emailed to you directly within 24 hours of confirmation of your order, usually much sooner.

The whole moth is hand sewn and you will need to know how to secure your beginning and end stitches. The moth is sewn using a simple whip stitch.

For one moth you will need 3 colours of felt sheet, a minimum of 9x8cm / 3.5x3 inches of each. The photographs show moths made from my naturally-dyed wool felt with speckles, you will find this in my shop under Felt Packs if you want to create a similar look.

You will also need 3 colours of sewing thread, one to match the colour of your felt for the body, one a few shades lighter and another for the eyes in black or dark brown, along with some filling and the usual sewing kit of scissors, pins and needle.

Digital files are non-refundable, please ask me any questions in advance of purchase, I am happy to help.
