Full description

Approximately 13cm long sterling silver earring threaders with 8mm wide recycled, fine silver cockle shell charms.

These can be worn threaded through just one hole, or several if you have more than one piercing in each ear. You can adjust the length the cockles dangle by gently pulling on the other end of the threader.

These earrings were inspired by the shells I see on my regular walks along the Thanet coastline.

I found the shell that these are moulded from when I was at an outdoor monthly craft fair overlooking Margate Main Sands.

I loved the size and detail of the shell, so I took an impression using Siligum. I then used a compound called silver clay which is recycled pure silver combined with a little binder and water to mould the shells. These were left to dry completely then fired in my kiln, which burnt off the water and binder leaving pure fine silver.
