Winter 2025: Welcome to my shop! There's a mixture of handmade fabric goods - patchwork quilts, bags, table runners and more! All made from high quality fabrics in my smoke-free, pet-free home sewing studio.

The beautiful colours and images of roses in the 'Padstow' range of fabrics reminded me of the soft furnishings in my Grandmothers home. I designed and created the 'Fifties Roses' quilt combining a traditional patchwork style with modern techniques to make the most of the lovely fabrics.

Full description
A patchwork quilt that has the vintage look of the 1950's with roses printed in muted shades of red on dusky blue, cream, pink and lavender backgrounds. The fabrics are quality quilting cottons from the 'Padstow Range' by Moda.
Measuring 58" (148cm) wide by 69" (175cm) long, this warm, soft quilt fits across a standard double bed giving any bedroom a cosy, retro feel. It could be used as a sofa throw, adding gentle colour tones and a sense of comfort to a living room or conservatory. Ideal for snuggling under whilst reading, watching TV or taking a nap!
For the quilting stitches, I've used a light blue cotton thread that tones in with the fabrics. I've hand quilted the central four blocks, the rest I've machine quilted with a variety of curved and straight line patterns.
The backing fabric is dotted with little posies of red roses and swooping birds on a mid blue background. All the outer fabrics are 100% cotton and the inner wadding is also 100% cotton. I have machine washed the quilt on a gentle 40C cycle so it has already acquired that slightly crinkled appearance that adds texture and a vintage look.
Designed and made by myself in my pet-free, smoke-free home this quilt has the look of an heirloom quilt but is robust and ready to be used; easy to wash in a standard domestic washing machine. For best results dry flat. There is a label sewn to the back of the quilt giving it's name, 'Fifties Roses'.
