PLEASE NOTE

I AM UPDATING PRODUCT BOXES FOR JEWELLERY AND DECORATIONS WHICH WILL TAKE AWHILE, IF YOU PURCHASE YOU WILL RECEIVE YOUR ORDER IN THE NEW BOXES AS DESCRIBED BELOW.

Jewellery boxes are made from FSC®-certified cardboard and water-based glue. Jewellery box inserts are made from tall oil, a by-product of wood pulp industry. All paper, card, glue, inks and delivery boxes used are made from recycled materials.

The idea is to create something new from old, found by chance unique, full of history and character. To present and deliver Eco Friendly gifts in Sustainable Packaging.

I love collecting ceramic discarded, lost, forgotten, damaged or just not wanted any more. Favourite places are rivers and beaches, but also find great things at recycling centres and charity shops. I’m lucky to live near the River Tees, Co Durham and often walk the banks picking up broken glass, pottery anything that can be cleaned and re-worked and crafted into something new. Bits and bobs found by chance waiting to find new homes.

You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.

Unless faulty, the following types of items are non-refundable: items that are personalised, bespoke or made-to-order to your specific requirements; items which deteriorate quickly (e.g. food), personal items sold with a hygiene seal (cosmetics, underwear) in instances where the seal is broken; digital items.

Additional terms

All ceramic personally collected from river banks, charity shops, recycle centres, beaches, wherever dropped, dumped or donated ceramics are found, cleaned and shaped into new stories. Each item comes with a short bio. Every piece is individual, nothing replicated, however, due to repetitive patterns in ceramics there will be some similarity but only through the ceramic material not in the final piece. Ceramic will show marks, scratches and imperfections, all part of its history and journey.

Please note that if your order is being posted outside mainland UK, you (or the recipient) may have to pay customs or VAT charges and a handling fee. The seller is not responsible for any charges or fees that may incur.

Read the Folksy Returns Policy.

Discovered Beach

Saltburn-by-the-Sea April 2021

handcrafted into Pendant

November 2024

I found this shard while looking for fossils on the beach at Saltburn-by-the-Sea. I’ve walked this beach many times and rarely find any pottery so was amazed at this piece. A chunky shard with part of a blue pattern, well worn, perhaps well travelled. The shape naturally made me think of a pendant.

I really enjoyed sanding this ceramic, the front is such a rich blue with two chips in the glaze which gives it a raised surface. Weatherworn back glaze, the end shape is very near the original found. Smoothed and polished, sealed with Eco Friendly sealant.

A beautiful cold, sunny and bright beach day in April turned very quickly into full on sea mist where you couldn’t even see your feet. The power of the sea, thankful I found this shard before the mist came, a remarkable day.

The pendant is hanging on a black woven cord, 44 cm with sterling silver clasp.

Shard measures approximately 30 mm x 28 mm x 5 mm.

Delivered in gift box made from FSC®-certified cardboard and water-based glue. Presented on Jewellery box insert made from tall oil, a by-product of paper production. Sustainable gifts, complete with short bio and gift bag.
