Full description
This is a handmade woodturned bottle opener made from incredible Yew wood. With both heartwood (orange to brown) and sapwood (cream with dark accents) in the handle, the contrast between the two is eye-catching and beautiful. Finished with gold-coloured hardware which highlights the colouring of the wood. The rippled shape fits neatly into the hand - it is tactile and lovely to hold.
This bottle opener was handmade on a wood lathe. It measures 14cm in length and 3.5cm at its widest point.
Handmade in Surrey in April 2021. This bottle opener is sanded to 400 grit then given multiple coats of "Hampshire Sheen" food safe danish oil, which not only protects the wood but enhances the natural grain and colour of the yew. A coating of beeswax/mineral oil also gives the handle a glossy sheen.
Care instructions: do not submerge, do not put in dishwasher. Wipe with damp cloth if required. If needed, apply food-safe oil or wax to restore shine.
Note - due to the grain of the wood and the nature of woodturning, each piece may have minor imperfections. I like to think of this as "character" and it means each item is unique!
