Primrose - hand embroidered brooch
Description
A hand stitched textile brooch featuring a spring Primrose.
I embroidered these pretty primrose flowers using strands of pale yellow embroidery thread onto a piece of sturdy green cotton from the scrap box. There are lazy-daisy stitches, stem stitch (for the stems, obviously!) and a sort of stretched blanket stitch for the leaves. Finished with a bright French knot in the centre.
The it’s backed with more strong cotton and the edges are finished with soft cream velvet ribbon which helps to give the piece some structure as well as a luxurious touch.
It measures just over 3.5cms by 4.5cms and has a brooch pin with a safety catch on the back to keep it nice and secure. It’ll arrive in a little organza bag by first class Royal Mail.
A lovely year-round reminder of Spring...
Inspiration
The primroses always put on a lovely display in the hedges and on the banks locally, we love admiring them on our walks. And, if we get close enough, they have a gorgeous scent. So pretty!
