Both logs were quite short and I mused long and hard about what to do with these small but beautiful pieces of Apple and Sycamore - I could see how wonderfully the colours complemented each other and I wanted to maximise the beauty of the ripples. So as it's my experimental season (this goes on throughout the year!) I thought supposing I joined the two woods as one and went from there. The result was quite astounding for me as I turned, seeing the harmony between the timbers coming together - amazing. So I'm going to do this more often - I do love totally unique products and this one really fits the bill, I hope you all like it as much as I do...

Full description
A Rolling Pin to bring perfection to all your pastry making great for rolling biscuits and icing. This one has some super Apple wood handles with lovey golden brown stripes running through them and a fantastic stripey Ripple Sycamore roller that shimmers and glows with lovely markings and undulations. The Apple came from the old orchard in the Abbey Gardens here in Waltham Abbey and the Sycamore is from Yorkshire. It feels super smooth all over and I've put a delicate black friction burnt detail at the bottom of the handles to accentuate the colours. This is a great addition to the kitchen for all cooks, it's always good to enjoy making pies, tarts and biscuits with beautiful utensils. Gives a good sense of satisfaction and the brilliant thing about wooden Rolling Pins is that they roll the dough rather than stretching it so it doesn't shrink - we don't want shrunken pastry after all that effort!
