A kit for a quick knitting project, with cosy aran-weight yarn from Jamieson & Smith, in colour combinations hand-picked by Maddie.

The perfect present for an adventurous beginner or more experienced knitter. Alternatively make yourself a warm pair of fingerless mitts - essential for working from home!

The Rose Thorn mitts are knitted in the round from the cuff upwards. Increases are made for the thumb, with the stitches being placed on hold and worked when the hand is complete. The mitts come in three sizes, suitable for hand circumference of between 17.5 cm / 7" and 20 cm / 8" (please see schematic in photos for more details). The pattern includes written and charted instructions and has been professionally tech edited.

“But [s]he that dares not grasp the thorn. Should never crave the rose.” Anne Bronte

This isn’t the way these 'pattern inspiration notes' are supposed to go, but I have to admit that these quick-to-knit mitts would be even quicker to knit, if it wasn’t for the fact that their gorgeous thorn stitch patterning is full of slipped stitches! However, as Anne Bronte reminds us, we can’t have the beautiful mitts without the thorns, and joking aside, the thorn stitch is an enjoyable pattern to knit and makes for a wonderfully cosy pair of mitts.
