A delicate pair of stud earrings, made using tiny fragments of cobalt blue Scottish seaglass. The posts and butterfly backs are sterling silver. The studs measure approximately 6mm x 6mm. Each pair comes complete with a gift box. (Item:1649)

See the additional photos for a picture of the earrings taken with an ear template to see 'actual size' when worn!

Blue glass is rare and was commonly used in medicine (or poison!) bottles. The sea glass washes up on the beautiful beaches in Anstruther in the East Neuk of Fife in Scotland. Much of it dates back to the Victorian era and is known as 'mermaid tears'. When sailors were lost at sea, the mermaids would cry and their tears would wash up on the shore.
