My background is in Graphic Design and although I'm now retired I still enjoy the creative process. A lot of my work features birds and flowers and I particularly love combining different materials and patterns to create colourful, one-of-a-kind mixed media pieces.

This quirky mixed media artwork would make a unique gift for any occasion or spoil yourself and add a pop of colour to your own home.
An eclectic mix of items have been carefully displayed in a free-standing, wooden compartment box which has been painted with black acrylic paint.
Layers of paint, wood block prints, batik fabric and decorative papers have been added to create a boho look to the backgrounds. I've also included polymer clay tiles which I've debossed and painted to add a lovely textural element.
On display is a colourful carved wooden bird from India, a metal monkey on a horse (in China this symbolizes promotion and success in business and home life) and a Tibetan Yak bone bead in the shape of a fish. I've used various beads including bone, a glass foil heart, carved jade, Czech pressed glass and small wooden beads displayed with cowrie shells.
The overall size is approx. 24cm wide x 33cm high and 4.5cm deep.
