I AM UPDATING PRODUCT BOXES FOR JEWELLERY AND DECORATIONS WHICH WILL TAKE AWHILE, IF YOU PURCHASE YOU WILL RECEIVE YOUR ORDER IN THE NEW BOXES AS DESCRIBED BELOW.
Jewellery boxes are made from FSC®-certified cardboard and water-based glue. Jewellery box inserts are made from tall oil, a by-product of wood pulp industry. All paper, card, glue, inks and delivery boxes used are made from recycled materials.
I love collecting things discarded, lost, forgotten, damaged or just not wanted any more. My favourite places are rivers and beaches, but also find great things at recycling centres and charity shops. I’m lucky to live near the River Tees, Co Durham and often walk the banks picking up broken glass, pottery anything that can be cleaned and re-created into something new. Bits and bobs of lives all waiting to find new homes.
You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.
Unless faulty, the following types of items are non-refundable: items that are personalised, bespoke or made-to-order to your specific requirements; items which deteriorate quickly (e.g. food), personal items sold with a hygiene seal (cosmetics, underwear) in instances where the seal is broken; digital items.
Additional terms
Shards Hand crafted Jewellery and framed artworks using pre loved and discarded ceramics. Ceramic material will show signs of wear. Entire process is a creative experience from discovery to final picture, nothing planned or preconceived. All materials personally collected from river banks, charity shops, roadside, woods, recycle centres, beaches, wherever dropped, dumped or donated ceramics are found, cleaned and shaped into new stories. Each titled piece comes with bio of where the ceramic came from, known history, original information and when the artwork was created. Some ceramics collected are used as found, while others are cut randomly which will shape the final picture. Every piece is individual, nothing replicated, however, due to repetitive patterns in ceramics there will be some similarity but only through the ceramic material not in the final piece.
Please note that if your order is being posted outside mainland UK, you (or the recipient) may have to pay customs or VAT charges and a handling fee. The seller is not responsible for any charges or fees that may incur.
Full description
Created from ceramic plate
discovered October 2019
Re-Created June 2020
‘Landing’ is created from a large broken wall plate.
In October 2019 I bought a box of broken ceramics from a recycling centre in Barnard Castle, Co Durham. It was filled with smashed plates, underneath all the rubble was a large brown thick plate and two similar style green patterned wall plates.
I chose a green plate to experiment with, when I started clipping and cutting I noticed the shards from the edge of the plate forming into beautiful elongated shapes. I used a felt board to allow the shards to fall onto it forming natural patterns.
As the pieces fell I immediately saw a bird, low flying with a long neck. Other chunks fell in a line which at first suggested a fence but as I gathered the pieces together the overall feeling was more like reeds than a fence.
The whole process is creative and the shard’s texture, shape and colour dictate the final piece. This is a unique framed ceramic picture, completely one of a kind. A large broken green plate destined to be thrown away has now started a new life as ‘Landing’ by Shards.
Delivered in Recycled Packaging and comes with short Bio.
3D Box Picture frame is made from recycled wood, distressed style, due to the nature of the recycled wood some frames will show marks or scratches.
Measures 18cm x 18cm x 3.5cm
