The original was painted for a friend who love, love, loves highland cows. We have plenty of cows in the fields surrounding us here at Bramble Cottage but unfortunately none of these majestic beasts. My friend however has them all around her house in Gloucestershire.
I wanted to keep this image very loose and just use the pen to suggest slight details. The only real painted details are in the horns and nose. Splashes and splatters of paint and gouache add texture and a feeling of movement.
