I love paper and I love making things, so making handmade books is the natural progression. I enjoy trying out different book structures and Coptic is one of my favourites to make.
I've also been testing out a few of my lovely new watercolour paints on thick watercolour paper, and realised they would make great book covers.

Full description

The covers of this book are an original hand painted watercolour painting on thick 350gsm watercolour paper and with additional paint pen detailing. I have cut the painting in half and used the halves on the front and the back covers so the image still lines up. The watercolour covers are protected with 2 pieces of acetate front and back which are bound into the book (this is what gives the shine you may be able to see on the covers).

The book was handstitched together using Coptic stitch and white waxed linen thread. This style of binding (Coptic) allows the pages to open completely flat.

The inside pages are 140gsm cartridge paper.

This book is in landscape orientation and is 15cm wide and 12cm high.
