Thank you for shopping with us.
I love watching the birds in the garden, especially on the bird feeders where you can get quite close up to them. I was looking for something to put a fat-ball in which would mostly only allow the small birds to gain access. I developed this from playing around with the corn-dolly weave - a very old weaving technique. The small blue and great tits can access this easily - but it's too small for the bigger birds.
Whilst the sizing, willow variety and weaves are obviously set for this particular basket, baskets can be made to order - for any purpose, to your size requirements and your preferred willow variety. If you have something in mind, please don’t hesitate to contact us with your ideas. Commissions are always welcome.
The price includes P&P - if you wish to purchase more than one item from our shop, please contact us prior to placing your order so we can recalculate the postage and packing costs.
You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.
Unless faulty, the following types of items are non-refundable: items that are personalised, bespoke or made-to-order to your specific requirements; items which deteriorate quickly (e.g. food), personal items sold with a hygiene seal (cosmetics, underwear) in instances where the seal is broken; digital items.

I am a keen bird-watcher and really enjoy watching the birds in the garden. We have quite a large variety come to our bird-table and feeders.
This is a simple but very ancient corn-dolly weave technique used to make a fat-ball feeder in buff willow.
To add a fat-ball, simply turn it upside down, open out the 4 cross-bars, add the fat-ball and close it up again. If the cross bars don’t open easily, rinse under a tap - the water will make it easier to slide about.
Please note that the feeder comes without a fat-ball.
Approx 10 cms wide x 12 cms high
Willow items for the garden will last a maximum of 3 years.
When I first started willow weaving I was astonished to find that there are many thousands of different varieties of willow grown right across the world. The most commonly used for basketry are Salix triandra, Salix viminalis and Salix purpurea.
Of these there are many more or less suitable for basketmaking - the most commonly used being Salix triandra 'Black Maul' which can be used in four ways - as the standard brown basket willow; boiled and stripped of it's bark which produces the lovely honey-coloured buff willow; or as white willow - where Black Maul is cut in the winter and left to stand in shallow trays of water until it starts to shoot - then stripped of it's bark to leave a white coloured rod; and steamed willow - where it is steamed in tanks which darkens it to a chocolate colour.
I hope you enjoy purchase.
