A tribute to Bob Marley on what would have been his 75th Birthday recently and using the famous Rasta Colours which were inspired by the Ethiopian flag.

A bespoke letterpress press print – signed and numbered from a limited artist edition of 20 where every print is significantly different as they are individually inked from a palette of colours.

The poster is surprisingly large thanks to the huge and rare antique wooden type – each of the large letters is 25cm high. This gives large blocks of print which allows for striking multicolour effects and a bold and attractive distressed texture.The actual area taken up by the text is 63 x 35cm, and the bare print is supplied on paper 70x50cm or other size if required.This looks great in a white or black frame 75x55cm external size for an extra cost of £22.

In these digital times there is something magical and very satisfying in hand creating printed objects using analogue methods that were used from the 1500’s up until the late 1900’s. The physical size and design of wooden type limits the printed possibilities, but these limitations give artists motivation to re-interpret the medium to produce work that was never conceived when the type was made around 100 years ago.
