In the landscape is a little lane winding towards the coast past a farmhouse on the hill and some sheep in the fields. The fields are different shades of green and the hedges and trees darker green. There’s a stony outcrop on the hilltop, some fluffy clouds and a twinkle on the sea.

The Celtic border has three knots and takes ages to stitch despite being only one colour, which I’ve outlined in navy to emphasise the ‘over and under’ pattern so essential to Celtic knot work.

The piece of stitching is 5x5cms and the frame is 16x16 cms. The black wooden frame has a grainy texture which sets the work off nicely. I photographed it in natural light without the glass for clarity, then with the protective glass returned and a string on the reverse, it’s ready for hanging.

A year-round reminder of cheerful Spring daffodils and Summer swallows, perhaps a nostalgic view of rural countryside for a city dweller.
