Full description

This is a unique design leaded painted glass panel measuring 23cm high and 17.5 cm wide. My theme was ‘Hope in Nature’, the title of Shepton Mallet Snowdrop festival 2021. I chose wrens, a nest, fritillary, snowdrops and green shoots at the base. My technique is to paint the glass with traditional pigments and scratch back to ‘etch a picture in the dry powder to be fired into permanently stain the glass. The fritillary have an extra layer of white painted surface to define their grid design, the faintest hint of silver stain in the nest. There is a mix of fully transparent, opaic and irid partially reflective green glass. I hope the photos display this.

The piece is leaded and cemented. Please be aware that all lead is poisonous and so you need to wash hands after handling. I imagine it leant against a window.
