Wooden scoops are great for making your coffee/tea experience even more special. More tactile than their metal and plastic counterparts, a pretty little wooden scoop will fit right into your daily routine. Made from locally sourced wood, this scoop gives the tree a new lease of life! Scoops like this make a great treat for yourself or a present for another.
My inspiration for this particular piece was a longing for the sea as it’s been a year since I’ve seen it.

Full description
This cherry wood scoop is a little bit special. The handle depicts a relief carved and hand painted creature of the deep- none other than a mighty Sperm Whale! On one side it is swimming through turbulent water and on the reverse side is depicted breaching the surface. The whale and the water are painted using various shades of milk paint. A level measure with this scoop is approx 1Tbsp, perfect for coffee, loose tea, sugar or similar. Heap this baby up for an even bigger splash!
The scoop has been made from a freshly cut log, which was taken to its final shape using traditional methods- splitting the log firstly into a 'blank' using a froe tool, drawing on a rough shape before axing this out and then finalising the shape using an array of knives. This leaves beautiful cut facets which mean no sanding is required. After drying, the scoop receives a final shaping by knife, before the handle is painted using food safe milk paint and a small makers mark is burned on. The scoop is then burnished using a smooth Scottish pebble leaving a silky feeling to the wood. And finally the wood is sealed using organic food grade linseed oil.
Scoop care- Hand wash using soap and water and leave to air dry. Avoid long soaks in water and never wash in a dishwasher.
Your scoop will be dispatched to you in recycled, eco-friendly and plastic-free packaging, and this can be put into composting or your paper recycling bin.
