Alexandrite is the birth stone for June and the Anniversary stone for the 55th. It is also known as Fridays stone and is meant to bring the wearer good luck. Alexandrite is a modern stone so doesn't have the folk lore surrounding it like many other gemstones. The stone was originally found in Russia in the Emerald mines.
