I started hand spinning fleece from my best friends sheep about 3 years ago and used to visit my mum in her nursing home and we would spend many happy hours laughing our heads off winding skeins of wool. Sadly mum died and with my inheritance I purchased a spinning wheel and now use the wheel and a spindle. This project is a combination of handspun fleeces from sheep and lambs, combined with a manufactured wool containing kid mohair. I am very pleased with the texture and the colours and the fact that the brim is totally natural and undyed.

Ladies beanie. I love the colours.! The ribbed brim is natural white handspun fleece from my best friends mixed breed flock. The crown is grey and yellow graduating to grey and orange. The yellow and orange is lambswool that I have dyed and spun. I have knitted this up with manufactured rowan kid classic in grey which was a leftover from another project. The kid classic is part lambswool and part kid mohair which combine to make a very special snuggly and warm hat. Sure to brighten up the most miserable day. Model is 5’ 7” and size 12/14.
