Inspired by the beautiful flowers that grow in my garden and wildflowers that I spot whilst walking my dog.
I’ve been working with glass for 18 years now. Ever since I first picked up my chosen glass and glass cutter, I’ve been hooked. I am fascinated by the properties of glass, the array or colours and the processes that that can be used to create different effects. There is always something new to learn and new tools and materials to invest in. It really is addictive!
What I especially love about working with glass are the colours. From crystal clear to shimmery dichroic to opaque pure blocks of colour that will never fade or dull.
I hope I’ve made you curious about the wonderful world of glass too!

Full description
Fused glass freestanding piece on a solid oak base. I've used cool tones of turquoise and green in my fused glass panel inspired by fennel and dandelions. This looks lovely either on a window sill with light flooding through it or on a mantelpiece. Each panel is completely unique.
To make it, I used transparent art glass and cut 2 pieces the same shape and size. I then hand cut very thin copper foil with a scalpel, creating stems and foliage, added it to the art glass. The copper turns into a beautiful deep red in the kiln. I then handpainted a specialist paint onto the piece which turn into bubbles in the kiln and fused it slowly overnight. Once completely cooled, I then add coloured dots, leaves and dichroic dots which I have made previously to give some added interest to the design. I then painted enamel paint onto the leaves to add veins. A second firing is done overnight the next day to tack fuse the leaves and dots onto the design, so that they stand proud of the glass, giving it a 3D effect. I then glue it securely into a solid oak plinth which allows the panel to stand up.
17cm x 17cm x 9cm.
