I do like exploring different bookbinding styles and this one intrigued me for a while before I had a go. It’s really intriguing because the spine is woven into the covers.
This is one of the bookbinding styles I teach so if you are interested in learning how to make your own please get in touch.
You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.
Unless faulty, the following types of items are non-refundable: items that are personalised, bespoke or made-to-order to your specific requirements; items which deteriorate quickly (e.g. food), personal items sold with a hygiene seal (cosmetics, underwear) in instances where the seal is broken; digital items.
Please note that if your order is being posted outside mainland UK, you (or the recipient) may have to pay customs or VAT charges and a handling fee. The seller is not responsible for any charges or fees that may incur.
This style of binding was invented in the mid 1980’s by Anne Goy, a Belgian bookbinder, who was seeking an alternative to the Japanese ‘stab binding’ techniques, but which would allow the book to open flat.
This version of the book is A5 in landscape orientation. The cover is approx. 16 cm wide and 12.5cm high. The inside pages are 15cm wide by 10.5 cm high, so there is an overlap of the cover on 3 sides of the book.
The cover paper is commercially printed in black and white with a variety of films based images.
The inside pages are 140gsm cartridge.
I have used waxed red linen thread for the binding.
