The Japanese fabrics I have been using to create my masks have encouraged me to explore Japanese culture and accessories. This is a bright and fun fabric.

Full description

A bright and vibrant cotton fabric with multicoloured flowers and skulls on a black background has been used for this Japanese rice bag. The inner fabric is a complimentary turquoise spotty dots cotton fabric. The ties on the drawstrings are black cord finished with a traditional covering. The bag is reversible.

The rice bag, or komebukuro, is a drawstring bag that was traditionally made of scrap fabric to carry rice or other offerings to Japanese temples or shrines.

It measures approximately 12cm (4 1/2 inches) in height, width and depth.

In normal light the fabrics are opaque and are not visible on the opposite facing.

The bag would make a fab gift bag for someone special, and holds a lot given its size, as can be seen in the photos. It could also be used to hold a small ball of wool and craft items.

Please note that the accessories are for photographic props only and do not come with the bag, but can be used as gift ideas.
