Full description

Every animal deserves a portrait. To my mind, taking the time to commission a portrait of a beloved pet or special animal, whether as a gift, or for yourself, acknowledges the contribution that that animal has made in enriching a person’s life.

I will work from your photos to create a lasting tribute to your special animal with my focus being to capture their true character. Personality is revealed in the eyes, expression and the way they hold themselves. The recipient of the portrait will be in no doubt that it is their beloved pet they see before them.

Good photos make all the difference and here are my top tips:

1. Position your pet in good natural light, ensure that strong sunlight doesn’t alter the appearance of coat colour.

2. Take the photo at their eye level. If you stand above them looking down it distorts the proportions of their features.

3. Try to take a photo that represents how you think of your pet. Do they usually have their ears up or down? Would you like their expression to be alert and eager or doleful?

4. Eyes are important, can you see them in the photo ? Can you see their eye colour?

If the portrait is of an animal that has sadly passed away I will work from any photos that you have available and happily discuss options to ensure the best likeness.

Prices start at £95 for a single A4 portrait.
