Full description

Handmade wheel thrown stoneware ceramic butter or cheese dish.

I made this butter dish on my potter's wheel. It is made in 2 parts the dome with a small handle and the plate. Once thrown it was left to dry until leather hard, then turned, handled pulled and attached and my maker mark is added. It was bisque fired then 2 different glazes, all lead free, were applied before it was fired a second time to 1220 oC.

The dark blue glaze has a mat finish and the white glaze contrasts with a glossy finish. The clay gives a biscuit speckled colour which shows through the white gloss glaze. Where the glazes cross over there is variation in colour from light blue to areas that look more green.

Dimensions:

Height of top about 8cm

Diameter inside 13 cm

Plate diameter 15 cm

Dishwasher safe though hand washing is recommended.

This listing is for 1 butter dish. I make all my ceramics in small batches and there is always some variation between each item, making them all delightfully unique.
