I love the symmetry of this design and really enjoyed painting it onto this heart and embellishing it with my own styling. Apparently the “Endless Knot” appeared on clay tablets in 2500 BC. and this ancient design is found in Chinese, Tibetan, Mongolian, Indian and Celtic symbolism and probably appears in other cultures too. It is a complete loop with no beginning or end, representing eternity, whether this means loyalty, faith, friendship or love. It is one of the 8 auspicious symbols, associated with Buddhism, Jainism and Hinduism and is said to bring good fortune.

When I researched for information about this knot design, I learnt that it is sometimes referred to as “Fish Entrails” as translated from old Chinese, however I prefer to call it “Endless Knot” :-)

Full description

I am making room for new items, so this piece is reduced to clear.

I made this heart from robust CrystalCal plaster, and then I hand painted the endless knot design onto the face.

The heart measures approx 10x10cm and is 2cm high. The whole piece has been coated twice in protective satin varnish for a soft sheen, and the blue design has been spot-varnished in a high gloss for maximum impact.

On the reverse of this heart , I have affixed a non-scratch backing pad, to protect any delicate surface that it may be placed upon. This unique, one of its kind heart makes an ideal paperweight, aid to meditation, love token or simply a decorative item for your home.
