Mad about Mandalas

Zentangles and patterns led me to doodling and dotting on various odd stones that I found lying around … but they weren’t great, and I felt I should not waste any more of Nature’s rocks with my daubs and dabs.

When I discovered silicone moulds, I became hooked on mixing up fine casting plaster. Now I have an infinite supply of objects upon which to practice my plumpy dots and fat swooshes and furthermore many of these objects are actually useful, such as trinket pots and candle-holders. I fell seamlessly into the magic of Mandala and Mehndi designs. I use the best quality acrylic paints and love applying thick layers, which give a 3D and pleasingly tactile finish. The symmetry and the intense focus of the work is what I enjoy. I found an enormous community of beautiful people on the Internet, happily sharing their work, advice, knowledge and love of the art. I am grateful for their encouragement and support.

I used to have a cat, but sadly I don’t anymore. I have many feline friends in my neighbourhood, who pass through my garden en-route to somewhere else. If I’m lucky, one may linger long enough to receive a bit of my fuss.
