Full description
This is a wonderfully grained Birch wood breakfast bowl with a deep purple coloured painted rim. Wooden bowls are perfect to pair up with a wooden eating spoon, and can be used for many different uses, be it hot or cold. This size of this bowl is perhaps most suited for breakfast or pudding but could equally be used for smaller main meal servings.
The bowl has been made from a freshly cut log, which was taken to its final shape using traditional methods- splitting the log firstly into a 'blank' using a froe tool, drawing on the bowl shape before axing this out and then finalising the shape on a leg powered pole lathe. The shaping is done using pole lathe hook tools, and unlike a powered lathe bowl the wonderful spiral tool marks from each rotation can be seen. After gradual drying in wood shavings, the bowl receives a paint using food safe milk paint and a small makers mark is burned on. The bowl is then sealed using organic food grade linseed oil.
Bowl care- Hand wash using soap and water and leave to air dry. Avoid long soaks in water and never wash in a dishwasher. Not suitable for microwaving.
Your bowl will be dispatched to you in recycled, eco-friendly and plastic-free packaging, and this can be put into composting or your paper recycling bin.
