The natural world greatly influences my designing, and I am forever taking snaps on my phone. This lantern was inspired by an iris my husband and I were lucky enough to have growing in our front garden. Its intense purple and yellow immediately brightened our day.
How the piece came together
As mentioned, this lantern design started with a photo of a beautiful iris flower. I layered two purple coloured papers together onto a gorgeous white backing paper - this gave some colour to the overall flower shape. To enhance the design further, I hand drew the iris outline over the purple backing. This lantern stands out well as a decorative item during the day, and as a delicate nightlight in the evening.
