Bringing memories of warm tropical waters, this dish is rich and heavy with glass, the different layers work together and are so thick and glossy you feel you could sink into it.

Full description

Shallow square glass dish which drops down into a square hollow, which forms the base of the glass. Construction is by stacking small hand cut pieces of clear and turquoise glass, vigorous black line work, coloured frits and powders which have been layered up and then fused down into a single slab and then slumped into the final form.

The hollow centre and raised rim causes the light to be diverted and shine through the glass at different angles which creates flashes of brightness and this movement of light and shadow brings the glass to life. The design is based upon abstracted impressions of the vibrancy of the tropics, in particular warm tropical waters. This platter would make an interesting and distinctive focal point. Food safe, please wash by hand in warm soapy water (not suitable for dishwasher as this gradually dulls the glossy surface)
