LET ME KNOW IF THERE ARE ANY GREETINGS TO INCLUDE.
A small porcelain bowl with a turquoise and red glaze. The glaze is turquoise where thin and red where thicker in the incised lines and texture marks. The glaze has pooled inside to give a speckled crysyalline effect that changes in appearance depending upon the angle of view. The bowl was thrown with a UK porcelain and, after biscuit firing and glazing the piece was fired to 1300C to make it impermeable and very durable. It measures approximately 6cm tall and 13cm wide and is food, oven, microwave, and dishwasher safe. The bottom is impressed with my seal, the letter P, and its identity number 9893.
The bowl was made in homage to my long-term interest in the technique of firing copper glazes in a kiln with a low oxygen level. This bowl would make a personal statement displayed on a table or shelf with or without contents and invites conversation and handling. Equally it could be directly functional for serving breakfast cereals or fruit.
