I enjoy making red porcelain vases because I am told by returning customers that they often become key focal points in their decorative scheme. I want to engage with people by providing them with something thoughtfully handmade that fits into their home decor. My interest in the challenging copper red, sang de beouf glazes derives from previous technical research on high temperature silicate materials and an admiration of early Song dynasty Chinese porcelains.

A conical hand built porcelain vase with a red/blue sang de beouf glaze that breaks to white where thinner on the raised parts of the texture. It was made with a UK porcelain and, after biscuit firing and glazing the piece was fired to 1300C to make it impermeable and very durable. The vase is dishwasher safe and measures approximately 22cm tall and 8cm wide. The bottom is impressed with my seal, the letter P, and its identity number 9526
