I’ve been working with glass for 18 years now. Ever since I first picked up my chosen glass and glass cutter, I’ve been hooked. I am fascinated by the properties of glass, the array or colours and the processes that that can be used to create different effects. There is always something new to learn and new tools and materials to invest in. It really is addictive!

What I especially love about working with glass are the colours. From crystal clear to shimmery dichroic to opaque pure blocks of colour that will never fade or dull.

I hope I’ve made you curious about the wonderful world of glass too!

Full description

Fused glass freestanding curved sculpture. I use tones of turquoise, purple, pink and green in my fused glass panel inspired by alliums, fennel and daisies. This looks lovely either on a window sill with light flooding through, on a mantelpiece or in front of a candle. Each curve is completely unique.

To make it, I used art glass and cut 2 pieces of transparent glass the same shape and size. I then hand cut copper foil with a scalpel into the shapes of stems and flowers. Next I add powdered glass and specialist glass paint which turns into turquoise bubbles in the heat of the kiln. I fire it slowly overnight in my kiln. Once completely cooled, I then add petals I've made out of art glass and coloured and dichroic dots which I have made previously to give some added interest to the design. A second firing is done overnight the next day to tack fuse the dots onto the design, so that they stand proud of the glass, giving it a 3D effect. Finally, the piece is fired a third time so it slowly slumps over a ceramic mould, giving it its curved shape.

Perfect on a window sill, or in front of a candle.

17cm x 15cm

Item comes securely packaged and wrapped in my signature turquoise tissue paper, sticker and string. A gift message can be included, just contact me to let me know.

Glass is very hard to photograph, so your item may look slightly different to how it does on screen. I try my best to capture the colours correctly.
