raw edge applique & freehand embroidered miniature zombie sloth in a painted 4 inch (10cm) wooden hoop.
few people got through this year unscathed, but if you can still manage a smile, well done for hanging in there Despite!
zombie sloth acknowledges 2020.
this tiny applique sloth is in pale grey cotton on a teal cotton background.
his face is pale blue linen and his eyeballs are hand embroidered.
the text “2020. i hung in there.” is written freehand, and the hoop is similarly signed on the reverse.
there’s no computer wizardry here - this piece was sewn entirely on a domestic sewing machine.
each tiny piece of cotton & linen fabric is hand cut, layered & appliqued onto cotton before drawing the details on freehand, using free motion embroidery.
the hoop is backed with cotton calico, and there’s a coordinating heart and text on the reverse.
my design is based on an original drawing by Little Black Heart.
