This is a handpainted slate heart, which depicts the Aurora Borealis, on a a snowy evening, whilst a lone black cat sits and watches the dancing skies.

The northern lights is the classic green, purple and pink colours lighting up the sky.
It has been painted in acrylic and watercolour. The northern lights element is a watercolour effect, with the remainder finished in acrylic and ink.

The slate measures 15cm x 15cm and is a lovely winter decoration, and comes with twine to hang your piece. As it has been varnished on both sides, it is protected from any moisture or spillage.

It could be used as an all round decoration, but as it's a lovely winter scene, then it would also make a lovely Christmas decoration

I was lucky enough to visit Finland a few years ago, and saw the Northern Lights for 4 out of the 5 nights we were there. It is a spectacular sight, and an experience which always stays with me. As pets are my general inpsiration, I wanted to illustrate this with a sillouhette of a black cat sitting watching this beautiful display
