Boro is the ancient Japanese technique of visible mending usually on worn out and holey clothes and turning them back into wearable garments again.But, having used the Boro technique on a pair of my jeans i thought i'd try it on a couple of needle books ( there might be more yet to come as i think it is quite addictive ).
This book is made from grey linen which has been padded and has two wool felt pages.
I made the hole in the denim as i needed it to be big enough to show the beehive and bees fabric and then used the traditional Japanese running stitch and cross stitch for the Boro bit.
The little felt bee is stitched to the book and the whole ensemble has been finished with lots of lovely mother of pearl buttons.
This book will come with a couple of needles and pins and measures about 13 cms square.
