I have a passion for textiles and stitching and anything that has been beautifully mended. My aim with this piece was to capture the delicate textures and patterns found in Japanese textiles, sashiko stitching and boro work. Porcelain is so fine that it picks up every detail that I have impressed in to the clay body. The creamy white colour of the porcelain is perfect to capture the shadows cast by the intricate textures and patterns.

Full description
Linda works from her pottery at home in Winchester, Hampshire. She has constructed this vessel by first throwing the body on the wheel and then adding a collar using thin slabs of impressed porcelain. The decoration is inspired by her love of textiles, stitching and pattern.
The vessel is glazed inside and is watertight. As the natural daylight moves around the room, the delicate textures and patterns come into their own as intricate shadows. This piece would be ideal as a wedding gift with its pure creamy colour and intricate textures. It looks beautiful filled with fresh flowers too.
