Inspiration is a funny thing!
Sometimes I am inspired by something I have seen.
Sometimes it is the brush strokes and palette knife marks which set me off.
In this case it is the paper itself that provides the inspiration.
I have a box - or two - of pieces of paper of all kinds from my various artistic practices - painting, printmaking, artist's bookmaking etc. I tear the paper - both plain and those with random marks and form beautiful edges and surfaces.
(The trick is to tear some towards you and some away from you to get very different appearances - Go on - try it!)
Having got lots of pieces I then try them out in all sorts of ways until - joy of joys - after some considerable time - a satisfying image appears. I then glue them carefully together.
Not the quickest art making process but fun and it produces something unrepeatable every time - giving you the chance to own something totally unique!
