In line with the movement towards more sustainable products, this cylindrical frosted glass tealight holder was created from an upcycled empty bottle.
This tealight or candle holder also looks stunning holding a string of battery powered fairy lights - but it looks equally eye catching just standing empty. Or use it to hold a bunch of short-stemmed flowers or even your favourite pens - your choice!
I created the tealight holder by upcycling a good quality heavyweight crystal clear glass bottle with a chunky base. To make the most of this feature I have left the base clear, giving the rest a white frosted finish with a sparkling clear glass design of a dragonfly among grasses. The frosted finish is etched into the glass and has a protective coating to resist finger marks.
Etched recycled clear glass bottle tealight holder, handmade by me in my home studio on the Wirral peninsula, NW England.
DIMENSIONS: The tealight holder is 9.5cm (3.75") in diameter and 12.5cm (5") tall.
CARE: Gentle handwash only to retain the protective surface coating.
I am never one to pass up free raw materials and bottles often come in such good quality glass that it seems a crime to just smash them up for recycling. This is one such bottle which originally contained a rather special brand of gin.
To create the tealight holder I cut off the top of the bottle and ground the glass smooth, before sandblasting the design on and finishing the surface with a protective coating.
