A 30 by 40cm mixed media picture made with sand, seashells, wood and stones straight from Barmouth beach and realistic layered resin water with both inlaid and hand painted eddies and ripples.

For people who used to live here, those who have visited and have fond memories - or just if you miss the sea, these can be a permanent memento. These are actual stones, shells, sand, wood etc. collected off of the beach, and if you can’t get to here (especially at the present time) then a bit of Barmouth can come to you.

They aren’t cheap. But then I’ve put a lot of work and time into each canvas, and every one is unique. Each has resin layers, to give a 3d look, and the wave ripples on the latest pictures are physically raised above the water with a technique that diorama creators use - I try my best to make these as realistic as possible.

I can also do the same with the contents from any beach. So you could make a present even more individual. :D Each one takes about three weeks.

Please note – some of the flat canvases have a slight curve, due to successive layers of resin drying and contracting - can’t be helped. If you are unhappy, then please return it to me and I’ll pay postage and either send another, or refund your money – whichever you’d like. Thanks, Paul. :)

I’m a hoarder. Over the years I have been to many places with sand (including the Sahara and Sinai) and from each I have collected stones, sand, shells and other things. When you get back home you place them so you can see and remember. But over the years things get moved around and the treasured stones that I got from Perth Beach many years ago can’t be distinguished from ones that I got in Albufeira, or Brighton.

I love the sea, and can actually see out towards Ireland from my bed. Barmouth has really clean air and on a lot of days you can see Bardsey Island clearly. Which is thirty miles away. As with a lot of the residents, I love the very long beach and even if I don’t go to visit it, then three times a week I run along the prom. I thought it would be nice to have a proper memento. But one as realistic as possible. Hence these. :)
