This handcrafted lariat necklace blends glitter gold, metallic copper, bordeaux and plum polymer clay to create a rich, striking and elegant piece of jewellery. The brown waxed cotton cord threads through a tear-drop torus, which hangs from a tear-drop disc. Both pieces are backed with a layer of glitter gold polymer clay. The ends of the cord are finished with spherical beads. Sliding knots in the cotton cord allow you to adjust the length of the necklace.

Dimensions:
The necklace is threaded on 2.2 m of brown waxed cotton cord.
At full extension (i.e. with the knots tightened to the disc), the threads hang about 64 cm from the shoulder.
At shortest extension (i.e with the knots meeting), the threads hang about 53 cm from the shoulder.

All the clay pieces of this necklace have been cut from my own handmade canes, which I slice and lay out to create random patterns. No two pieces are ever the same! Once the pieces have been constructed and fired, they are sanded and painted with a semi-gloss varnish.

The necklace will be wrapped in tissue paper and placed in an organza bag, ready to gift or keep for yourself!

The design for this necklace was inspired by my own love of lariat necklaces. I find fidgeting with the beads on the end of the cords very satisfying ;-) The design is simple but elegant, to allow the pattern and colours of the polymer clay to stand out.

The blend of glitter gold, metallic copper, bordeaux and plum was inspired by the darkening autumnal days. Gold and copper represent the colour of leaves as they fall from the trees; bordeaux and plum represent the purplish hues of the dusk sky.
